In this tutorial, we will explain how to connect your electronic drum kit to the WeGroove application.
You will be able to play WeGroove directly with your electronic drum kit!
So you can become a Groover while having fun with your own equipment.
Connect your drum kit to WeGroove
In order to connect your electronic drum kit to WeGroove, you need:
- Your smartphone with the WeGroove App installed
- A USB cable (if you have a USB-MIDI output on your electronic drum module) or a MIDI cable (if you only have a MIDI output on your electronic drum module).
Now that you’ve checked it out, let’s see what choice you have:
- IOS (Iphone / IPad )
- USB MIDI output: using a device like this IOS Adapter: MIDI-USB / Audio simply connect the USB output of your drum set to the USB port of the dongle, your headphone or amp jack to the audio input of the dongle and the whole thing to the Lighting jack.

- MIDI output: using a device like this Irig 2 connect your MIDI cable directly to the “MIDI OUT” of your electronic drum set and to the “IN” of the iRig MIDI 2. Then connect your iRig to your smartphone with the cable provided. You will probably need a USB Usb to lighting adapter like this one.
Depending on your configuration, the choice of connectors will be different.
- MIDI output: using a device like this Irig 2 connect your MIDI cable directly to the “MIDI OUT” of your electronic drum set and to the “IN” of the iRig MIDI 2. Then connect your iRig to your smartphone with the cable provided. You will probably need a USB Usb to lighting adapter like this one.
- Android
- USB MIDI output: using a USB to Micro USB adapter, simply plug the USB output of your battery into the USB port of the dongle, your headphone or amp jack into the audio input of your smartphone (or the dongle) and the whole thing into the smartphone jack.

- MIDI output: using a device like this Irig 2 connect your MIDI cable directly to the “MIDI OUT” of your electronic drum set and to the “IN” of the iRig MIDI 2. Then connect your iRig to your smartphone with the cable provided. You will probably need a USB to USB-C adapter.
Turn on your drum kit, then launch WeGroove on your smartphone.
The iRig will start flashing blue, a sign that the connection is established.
By default the MIDI mapping corresponds to your electronic drums.
